Michelle Smith is a Huntsville native with deep roots in the community she has always called home. She attended Randolph School and Auburn University and spent 25 years as an educator before beginning a new chapter in real estate.
After decades of assigning lessons, studying, and tests to others, Michelle decided at age 50 to challenge herself by becoming the student. With a husband in the homebuilding industry and a growing interest in real estate, she earned her real estate license in 2018 and began putting an entirely different set of skills to work for her clients.
Her background in education remains one of the greatest strengths she brings to real estate today.
Michelle understands that clients do not simply need someone to tell them what to sign or where to be next. They need someone who can explain the process, break complicated information into understandable pieces, answer questions clearly, and help them feel confident about the decisions they are making. After 25 years in the classroom, educating people is second nature to her.
That skill is especially valuable when paired with Michelle’s work as a Post Closing Specialist for ADM Title Services. Her experience in the title industry gives her a firsthand understanding of what happens beyond the sales side of a transaction and how contracts, title work, documentation, lender requirements, closing details, recording, and post-closing responsibilities all come together.
That perspective allows Michelle to better prepare her clients for what happens between an accepted offer and the closing table. She understands why deadlines, documentation, and details matter and how the many professionals involved in a transaction must work together to get it successfully across the finish line.
As a Realtor with Valley Homes, Michelle uses that knowledge to help buyers and sellers navigate the process with a clearer understanding of what is happening, what comes next, and why each step matters. Her goal is not to rush clients toward a decision, but to make sure they understand the decision they are making.
Michelle also brings a lifetime of experience outside of real estate that has shaped the way she works with people. Over the years, she has been an educator, mother, pool manager, runner, fitness studio owner, Realtor, and Post Closing Specialist. Her favorite title these days, however, is “Lovey” to her grandchildren.
Each chapter has reinforced the same qualities she brings to her clients today: patience, discipline, organization, communication, and a genuine desire to help people understand the path in front of them.
Outside of work, Michelle enjoys walking her dogs, reading, spending time with her family and grandchildren, and dreaming about the day she eventually retires at the beach.
